Patience

*has taken a tincture, and is trying to sleep; it may work, it may not work. it's Thanksgiving, isn't it? but how much does that mean to a Catholic Danish from too long ago to know? it's really only another day to pray, that's all it is--and every day is a day to pray*

*but he does not mean to disturb Hamlet, so he is in his kitchen, his quiet little kitchen, sitting on a short wooden stool beside the oven, where there is bread baking; and he has a cup of tea, and it's getting cold; but he might fall asleep any moment now, he doesn't know--so he doesn't fret about it*

*what comes, comes (there's prayer)(and there's a sparrow falling) who knows? (and he's waiting)*

*would not be disturbed (at all) (and kitchens cannot be so comfortable for sleep) and so perhaps notes the absence, or perhaps he smells the bread, or perhaps he simply walks by the doorway to the kitchen and catches a glimpse of Horatio, quietly sitting, sipping tea-- either way, he pauses, rather hovers, just to the other side of the door*

*(he does not want to disturb Horatio)*

*lifts his head tiredly, and smiles towards the door (always knows when Hamlet--always feels Hamlet--)*

*and peeks around the doorway, in a rather subdued, domestic, almost bizarre sort of way-- and has a slight smile of his own*

My Lord. *funny how when one's tired enough one begins to feel a little dizzy; or maybe that's just adding even a little alcohol to exhaustion*

*advances a bit further into the room (can hear something in Horatio's voice--) and looks down at him, unassuming, unknowing*

*looks up at him, and smiles again, a slightly oddish smile (he's so tired--but he's always tired, he oughtn't to mind it by now--but Watson told him--well, he's trying what Watson told him, isn't he? only it's not quite working--)*

*and bends down and kisses his forehead (it is a first desire--), then smoothes his hair in a fond motion) *almost gently (for once, he can see the fatigue)* How long hast thy bread?

But a quarter of an hour, my Lord. *places his hand against the door of the oven almost fondly, shaking his head a little (he feels unclear)*

*takes his hand* Hast thou need of company as thou dost sit and wait?

If thou dost desire't-- if thou dost. *attempts to stand, using the fact that Hamlet has his hand as little as possible*

Ay, I would. *little laugh* And mayhap to stea a crust or two upon its end. *--does not force any more aid on Horatio, but is there and ready*

*stands, not amazingly steady, and holds onto the corner of the oven* Thou'rt welcome to all thou dost desire, my Lord.

*keeps his hand, then, and stands a bit closer, though not too close* Naught maketh me more glad.

*if Hamlet is very close, he may be able to feel Horatio shaking a little (he is so tired--it doesn't matter--)* *--smiles rather, although it hurts his eyes, for Hamlet* Then I am glad, my Lord.

*--a little, but will not offend by mentioning it, by offering to help when it is unwanted, and so just squeezes his hand, once, affectionately* Then are we both. *light, silly* Have we a matching gladness?

*then Hamlet knows his Horatio too well; and Horatio doesn't say anything, but is glad (grateful)* Ay, my Lord, as like as two children born with one face.

*little laugh* Ay, yet two faces we. *and to prove this, gives him a light kiss*

[info]truant_horatio

December 3 2005, 04:12:32 UTC 6 years ago

Ay, my Lord. *leans harder against the oven, with a little smile*

[info]thanitohercules

December 3 2005, 04:18:29 UTC 6 years ago

*puts one hand to Horatio's side, half-way to around him; for to hold him in a kiss is allowed*

[info]truant_horatio

December 3 2005, 04:41:48 UTC 6 years ago

*yes, of course--but the closer he is, the more one can feel the shaking--and Hamlet shouldn't, shouldn't--but things are still secrets if you don't say anything--(he just wants to sleep)* My Lord-- *but a kiss is safe enough, at any rate, isn't it?*

[info]thanitohercules

December 3 2005, 04:46:33 UTC 6 years ago

*does not say anything, allows Horatio to keep this secret-- (rather wants to carry him to bed-- just for sleep)* Ay-- *but it is not so much a question as a breath before a kiss (still light)*

[info]truant_horatio

December 3 2005, 05:14:18 UTC 6 years ago

*thank Heaven-- (would never have the words or the disrespect--for to him it is a disrespect--to say how he needs that, or how appreciated it would be)* *--it is a kiss that isn't well returned, only the lightest touch, almost nothing at all*

[info]thanitohercules

December 3 2005, 05:17:44 UTC 6 years ago

*pulls back, then, as between the kiss and the shaking, he does not want to push, and rests his cheek against Horatio's for just a moment* Wouldst thou trust me with thy bread?
